HELLO EVERYONE
HOWS ALL THE NOTRE DAMEAN GOING ON?

#94 Zone 4 Acharon Village Calumpang General Santos City, socsargen philippines - Sun, December 30, 2001

The Notre DAme Alumni USA wishes to extend its Condolences to the Clariza family. Mr. Sabino "Jun" Clariza passed away early this month. Jun, a graduate of Notre Dame of Dadiangas High School and College underwent a liver transplant in July, the reason why he was not able to attend our reunion in Anaheim, California. His son, who would have given his own heart for his beloved father, was the donor and although it was deemed a perfect match at the beginning, his body rejected the new transplanted organ.
Jun finished his Masters in Social Work when he came to the United states and was a social worker in the San Francisco area. In the words of his sister-in-law, Luningning Manaay Clariza, "Jun proved the truth in the saying 'only the good die young'. He was one of the best I have ever met." He will be sadly missed.
Please send your emails to NingManaay@aol.com. She will make sure that the family of Jun who survived him, his wife and children, receive your messages. Thanks.

On behalf of our outgoing president Angel Boloico and the Officers for 1999-2001, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the fund raising project. We're very glad to inform you that we were able to match Mr. Rayland Rogan's contribution. The check had already been sent to Bro. Willy, President of Notre Dame of Dadiangas College. As soon as our financial officer, Art Henares and our outgoing Auditor, Gerry Hingco have prepared their report, and Angel have endorsed them to current President Sol Santos Cuenco (2001-2003) copies will be made available to members. Again thank you for all your help. We could not have done it without you. Signed: Prima Guipo Hower, Outgoing Secretary for Outgoing President Angel Boloico and his officers.
P.S. Yes, I had a blast on my 18th (???) birthday, thanks for the emails and cards.

For those of you who don't know, it's Prima's birthday today, August 2nd. We all know how tirelessly she has worked for this organization to succeed, so it's time for us to say our thanks and greetings on her special day. (Let's overload her mailbox with greetings!) Happy birthday, Prima. We wish you the best today and all the tomorrows to come. You are a wonderful person and if some of us can only have a portion of your stamina, this organization will soar through the roof! Keep up all the good things you have been doing. HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Love, *Tally* and the Zolina Family. By the way, it's my Mom's birthday yesterday, she's 87 and alive and kicking. Happy Summer everyone. Just got back from an extended trip to Cape Cod, Mass. It started as a business trip and ended us a shopping spree!!! Visited our daughter in Providence, Rhode Island, attended a family reunion of the other Judds (Al's maternal side) in Allentown, Pa and stopped in Atlanta, GA to shop at the GiftMart for our craft business. Now it's back to alumni business.
Sounds like the reunion fever has not abated any since our goodbye at the Pearson Park picnic. Marfin Tan, Lydia and Tong Divinagracia dropped by at Angel and Vida's at Riverside. The hosts took the gang down to Palm Springs for a fishing "expedition". Tilapia anyone? Heard Bing Ferrariz can't seem to get away from Vida's cooking...so she went back for the second time. What happened to the 50 pcs of puto you ordered huh? Normalita Go Gonzales, wish you came a few weeks earlier...you missed a good one at the reunion. Hope you'll come back at the next reunion. Welcome to Grace Demonteverde from Europe and Evelyn Alburo from Manila. Huli man daw at magaling, kung matinik malalim! Opps!
We should be posting more photos of the reunion soon. Keep watching and keep writing us. Don't wait for the next reunion. Cheers, Prima

the warmth of the fellowship among the dameans at the reunion was almost
palpable...there was caring and sharing of each other from make-up, clothes,
stories, jokes and most especially FOOD!!
room 228 was the designated " cafeteria " for the occasion ..if you were
hungry and expressed it, someone will tell you, " go to room 228 ". and sure
enough there will be food.. nanay ferrariz and manang inday gonzalez madria
will help you find a plate. manang inday brought adobo, mangga ( the really
juicy one) bing ferrariz bought a tray of puto , baby martinez brought a
large aluminum tray of fried tilapia, fried smelts and the infamous
ginamos!!! whew! until we checked out, the room, still smelt like " whatever
" .shirley zolina victa bribed the cleaning lady with puto so she won't mind.
it worked.. she kept saying " gracias" . inday m. felt so embarrassed but
without those food a lot of alums would have starved....vida provided a
continuous supply of hot kanin. she brings down the rice cooker hidden in a
p[lastic bag. she brought down monggo with balunggay leaves... Bro. Willy
said, busog ako but the fried smelt, bulad and fried fish were so inviting so
Orman and him dug in...
as the old cliche' goes slightly improvised, " the closest way to anybody's
heart is through his/her stomach "
hey, bro. willy and orman, HINT, HINT, HINT for the next reunion!
may all your days be happy, your nights calm and peaceful and your hearts
full of love! God Bless.

Good Day Everyone!

A week ago this Saturday we ended our beautiful, memorable, wonderful, considered to be most-treasured "Gala Night", hoping that each one of us who attended the reunion had savored every minute of togetherness, laughter. I wish, I wish, it didn't end at all. Are you still reminiscing the 5-day affair to remember? Chris and I still do till this writing.

Speaking of the "Fair to Remember" - I would like to thank those who helped and donated and contributed to make this a "huge" success. Prima, did I use the right word "huge"? For a start, I believe we did a good job, huh? And for a paaman, I got all those leftovers, like: pens, scotch tape, cello, pieces of string, wires. So, for the next reunion you know whom to approach for these tidbits. Thank you, thank you all who stayed behind to man the bazaar: Inday, Tally, Nang Inday (Madria), Olive Te, Gerry, Nena, Binggot, Chris (my Palangga), Eillen B, and Mrs. Ferrariz and Vida B. This list includes the Chairman, Minda H., exMr. President, Angel Boloico, and of course the brain of this fair, exMs. Secretary, Prima.

Likewise, thank you everyone for your generous donations: Binggot, Inday, Noh and Zeny, William E, Ida E, Arsenia, Ana Fe D (our newly elected Secretary), Minda Z, Nosy (for the foods), Baby Martinez M (for the foods), Joe L (from China), Chris and Prime, and Nena G A, Angel and Vida, Ma'am Dorie, Bro. Willy and Orman M. I sincerely apologize for the names I missed to mention, but deep in Notre Dame's name you are always etched in her heart.

Well then, friends and new acquaintances, and classmates (forever)... til our next reunion, it may happen earlier than 2003, hmmmmmmm?

Love (in Notre Dame),
Lanie Zerrudo-Gammon
Chairman - A Fair to Remember

P.S. Prime, don't forget - I have all those uniforms and the Philippine flag. Just howl if you need them. We have more photos trickling in, one from Angel (our group photo) - daw kanami guid sa aton tanan. Likewise, a photo taken with Manang Goring will be up on the web soon.
